Workshop Series:

From Default to Deliberate

Many leadership teams operate under real pressure, working hard while results feel harder to reach. Beneath the surface, unnamed patterns can get in the way, impacting how people respond under pressure. These patterns can shape what the team can see, decide, and do together.

GoPedal has partnered with Josh Perry, high performance coach and former pro BMX athlete, to create “From Default to Deliberate.” This series of 90-minute workshops gives leadership teams the awareness and tools to recognize those patterns and change them.

Workshop Topics

Naming the Elephant in the Room

The most expensive conversations are the ones that never happen.

Every organization has elephants. This workshop explores why they persist — from identity-level patterns to avoidance and anxiety — and focuses on how to name what needs to be named in ways that open conversation rather than shut it down. We cover:

  • Signals that an elephant is in the room
  • Why avoidance persists from both identity and anxiety perspectives
  • Framework for distinguishing avoidance from giving space
  • Strategies for addressing elephants in ways that invite dialogue over defensiveness

Cracking the Code on Persistent Complaints

The patterns you can't see are the ones doing the most damage.

Recurring complaints that never get resolved often arise from unconscious patterns that quietly limit what a team can achieve. This workshop teaches participants to identify these patterns and take the first steps toward dissolving them. We cover:

  • Framework for identifying unconscious behavioral patterns at individual and team levels
  • Ability to name the hidden payoff and hidden cost of current rackets
  • Shared language for surfacing and addressing these patterns going forward

State Before Decision

Why the first thing you do before any decision isn't actually about the decision.

When the nervous system shifts into survival mode, perception narrows and the ability to hold complexity collapses. This workshop helps participants understand what happens under pressure and develop tools for resetting before making important decisions. We cover:

  • How survival mode affects thinking, perception, and decision-making
  • Recognizing state shifts in yourself and others in real time
  • Practical strategies for regulating and resetting individually and as a team
